How to Use Setting Spray So Your Makeup Lasts All Day

When to spray, from how far, how to pair it with powder in UAE heat, and the common mistakes that ruin makeup instead of setting it.

Setting spray is the last step of your routine. It holds foundation, concealer, powder and blush together and gives skin a natural finish instead of a powdery look. How you spray it makes the difference.

When to spray

After all your makeup is done, and after powder. Powder sets the layers and controls shine; the spray melts the powdery look and holds everything together.

How to spray it

  • Shake the bottle well.
  • Close your eyes and hold the bottle 20 to 25 cm from your face.
  • Mist in an X shape, then a T shape, so it covers the whole face.
  • Let it dry for a minute without touching or wiping.

In UAE heat and humidity

  • Start with primer and thin layers of foundation.
  • Press loose powder onto the forehead, nose and chin.
  • Finish with setting spray.
  • During the day, blot shine with a tissue, add a touch of compact powder and, if you like, a light mist to refresh.

Little tricks

  • A light mist on a damp sponge before blending foundation gives a softer finish.
  • Lightly mist your highlighter brush before applying for a stronger glow at night.

Common mistakes

  • Spraying too close, so it lands in drops.
  • Touching or wiping your face before it dries.
  • Using so much that it wets the makeup instead of setting it.

Setting spray questions we hear a lot

Do I use setting spray before or after powder?
Usually after. Powder first to set the layers, then the spray at the end.

Can I use it more than once a day?
Yes, a light mist after blotting refreshes your makeup during the day.
