How to make your makeup last in UAE heat and humidity

Summer heat and humidity in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah melt makeup fast. Practical steps to keep it in place from morning to night.

In the hot, humid UAE climate makeup has to fight shine, sweat and sun. The order of your steps and the right textures make a big difference.

Prepare your skin

Cleanse gently and use a light moisturiser; heavy creams make makeup slide in humid weather. Let it dry for a minute before foundation.

Use fewer layers

Thick layers are the first to melt. Use a little foundation, blend it well, and add concealer only where you need more coverage.

Choose matte textures

  • A matte foundation to control shine.
  • Loose or pressed powder on the forehead, nose and chin.
  • Matte or liquid lipstick, which lasts longer in the heat than gloss.

Press the powder

Press powder in with a sponge or brush instead of sweeping it, so it sets the foundation without moving it.

Finish with setting spray

Mist setting spray from 20 to 25 cm away and let it dry without touching your face.

During the day

  • Blot shine with a tissue instead of adding more powder.
  • Keep a pressed powder in your bag for quick touch-ups.
  • Set kohl with a little eyeshadow of the same colour so it does not smudge.
